last song syndrome

bits of lines from Fr. Arnel's "How Lovely is Your Dwelling Place"

even the lowly sparrow finds a home for her brood
and a swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young...

blessed are they whose dwelling is your home...
blest are they refreshed by springs and by rain
when dryness daunts and scathes...

i would forsake a thousand other days anywhere
if i could spend one day in your courts belong to you alone
my strength are you alone...

how lovely is your dwelling place...

the disturbers disturning God to disturb them once more

here's a nice prayer that i got from Sunday for Skeptics

Disturb us, Lord
Disturb us, Lord,When we are too well pleased with ourselves,

When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord,

When with the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Or having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
Or in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord,

To dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show us your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back

The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future with us
In strength, courage, hope, and love.
Amen.

postmodernity upholds plurality, where the cat lives together with the dog. in here, we have a levinasian and a thomist, together happily striking a pose: me and sir rey. hehehe

isang pagmamatapang

Unang tangka

(18 Mayo 2004, sa kwarto, minsang walang magawa)

Madilim na mukhang
aninag ang utak
na ginawang isaw.

Diwang naglalaro sa gitna
ng mapait na pagkabigo at matamis na kalayaan.

Pusong sugatan
at malayang kaluluwa.

Pisnging mapula’t may latay
ng magkapatid na pasmadong palad.

Kinakabag na sikmurang
binusog ng sumpa.

Sinalapid na paa’y
biglang natisod patihaya…
tapos noo’y dumapa.

Umagos ang luha
Tumawa nang bigla…
at sa huling sigwa ng basang muta…
humalik sa lupa…
…at sa wakas, namahinga.

POESIS: nice lines from ee cummings

many thanks to lotte for finding these elusive lines for me. =)

Somewhere I Have Never Traveled, Gladly Beyond E. E. Cummings

somewhere I have never traveled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which I cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look will easily unclose me
though I have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, I and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(I do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
